Shankar Residence

The Mumbai home of our Principal Ar. Ravi Shankar was designed with the same dedication and thought processes that go into each and every project that RSA works for. Making the most of natural light, coherent movement and allowing the elements to enhance the space were the key features that transformed this three-bedroom apartment into a bright and spacious home.

The living room was designed using hand crafted wood panelling that was inlaid with thin brass strips in a slanted fashion. The deep wood set against the brass added a striking contrast making it a perfect backdrop for the muted sofa set.

This brown-beige colour theme was the perfect setting to the row of potted Areca palms that were placed in the extended balcony, which allowed complete privacy in the living area.  A low furniture piece in a patchwork of recycled fabric was created as a centre table, adding a whimsical and unexpected colour as well as a texture pop in the room.

The wood and brass theme carried forward into the L shaped bar cabinet that was specifically planned for a window had been created to gain the benefit of the wind patterns in the neighbourhood. A rich mustard table top in a natural stone was the focal point of the dining area, making it a conversation piece at times, an art installation for some and a functional table for meals.
